Trinity Lutheran is located in the historic Mud Lane area of Staten Island at the intersection of Beach, St Paul's and Cebra Ave. You can't miss this Gothic gem. For over 160 years, we have been serving the needs of our community through worship, education, feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, worshipping with music and so much more.
Lutherans are a community of faith that shares a passion for making positive changes in the world. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ. Trinity is a diverse ELCA Lutheran community and welcomes people of all sexual orientations and gender.
Trinity is “Kid Friendly”. We have an area designed for children 5 and under to quietly engage in age appropriate activities while experiencing worship in the sanctuary along with their families. It is located in the front of the Sanctuary so children can view the goings on at the altar (or not) and parents can still engage in meaningful worship. We also have set aside space in the Narthex with rocking chairs in case a moment of quiet is needed. Of course, parents always have the option to simply sit with their children in the pews for which we have Pew Bags for kids who need a few extras to help hold their attention.
We use a flexible curriculum for Sunday School that includes videos, lessons, Bible study, discussion, fun projects, music, movement, crafts and snacks. Most of our Sunday School teachers are professional teachers or involved in education and are very astute to the needs of our children and ensure lessons are tailored age appropriate. Sunday School meets at 10:30 and usually lasts for one hour. Thereafter, children are accompanied back to their parents and join in the worship service.
Young adults are encouraged to participate in the life of the church and take an active role. Once confirmed, they become ushers, acolytes, lectors, Sunday School assistants and join the Senior Choir.
